"War is not the answer" - Statement from San Carlos Borromeo Parish Pastoral Council

Friends in Peace:

For and in behalf of the Parishioners of San Carlos Borromeo Parish, Tamontaka, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao. we appeal for peace and  sobriety in this most trying time for us Mindanaoans in the wake of  the Basilan Crisis.

We condemn in the strongest term violence and criminality. We appreciate the stand of the President to pursue the Peace Process as well as the MILFs suggestion for an impartial investigation. We however seek justice for the 19 young soldiers and 5 MILF combatants who were killed.

We say NO TO ALL OUT WAR as being floated by our lawmakers, former President Estrada and other sectors. WAR IS NOT THE ANSWER to the decades-long armed conflict in Mindanao. We appeal for the sustainability of the PEACE PROCESS. Please uphold and respect CEASEFIRE AGREEMENT. There no victors in WAR, we only have VICTIMS.
